Internet Security 2014 Virus

What is Internet Security 2014?

Internet Security 2014 is a malware virus. It’s important to mention that many legitimate antivirus clients do have the term Internet Security in the name along with the year the product was released. At the time of this writing we are still in mid 2013 and many AV clients have not released the 2014 versions of their software. However they will shortly.

Internet Security 2014 will show fake scan results and dozens of warning messages. Each will tell the user how infected their computer is and that they are being hacked, files stolen, accounts accessed. Things along that line. You will constantly be asked to purchase the product to remove the viruses. The Internet Security 2014 is the real virus and it’s the program holding backup your computer.

This is a scam known as rogue security software and it’s been going around for years on end. The scam works by tricking people into paying for the fake software.

How Did I get infected with Internet Security 2014?

Most people get infected just from web surfing. They will come across a site that has been hacked and that site will attempt to inject code onto the users computer to infect it with Internet Security 2014. Users who get infected got that way from not having a good antivirus client. Free clients often times do not have live protection to block viruses or they will not have the latest virus updates to protect against new threats.

Simplest way to remove this virus is to download and install SpyHunter . Then boot into safe mode with networking (http://www.removevirus.org/how-to-boot-into-safe-mode). Install and update the client in safe mode and run a full scan. You will have to purchase the program to remove any viruses but it’s one of the easiest and fastest ways.

Manual Internet Security 2014 Removal (Not Recommended Unless You Know Your Way Around a Computer)

Step 1. We need to locate and delete the main trace of this virus. To do this we will be downloading SpyHunter. Download the client. Then boot into safe mode with networking and install the client and update it. Learn how to boot into safe mode at http://www.removevirus.org/how-to-boot-into-safe-mode

Once installed you can now run a scan. Let the scan run. Once done you will be told the exact file name and file location of the Internet Security 2014 virus threat. Now you can go to that file and delete it.

Known File Locations

Take note that the below file locations contain hidden files and folders. For instance the AppData folder is a hidden folder. In order to view these folders you will need to show hidden files and folders. Learn how to at http://www.removevirus.org/show-hidden-files-and-folders

Windows Vista/7:

In one of the folder paths below you should find the file

  • C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Local
  • C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\

Here are several ways to stop and delete this threat

A.  Log-into another users account and see if you can delete the file. Again use the File Locations below to locate the file

E:  Start the Task Manager the very second you log-in and terminate the process that way. Then locate and delete the file

F: You can attempt a “System Restore”. This in some cases will undo any damage from the virus and remove it. Does not always work. See http://www.removevirus.org/how-to-do-a-system-restore

g: Use the command line to kill the task and then delete the file using the File Locations below. This is a little more advanced but we have a guide on this on http://www.removevirus.org/kill-running-process-using-command-line

Keep in mind you can not delete a file while it is running. This is why we recommend you run the virus scan in safe mode. The virus threat should not be running. If you are in normal mode then you will have to first re-name the virus file and then re-boot your computer. Next time it starts up the virus file will not be running and you can delete the file you just re-named.

If you can’t seem to delete this virus you can hire a professional to help. We recommend www.pcninja.com
