Microsoft’s Free Security Essentials is Some Slick Stuff

I have always had a love hate relationship when it comes to viruses and spyware. Like everyone out there I hate being infected and do wish all these people were behind bars. At the same time I make a living off of repairing and removing viruses from peoples computers. Even with the most advanced antivirus and antispyware protection out there people can still get infected. I can not ever see a time when people like my self will not have work. This does not mean you absolutely have to spend money on a security client for your computer.

For many years now companies like AVG, Avast, Spybot Search and Destroy, have been offering free clients, even Norton and PCtools have free versions out. Microsoft this last Tuesday stepped into the game offering it’s own free client called Security Essentials. From the first time I installed till today one week later I do like the program. This client does not seem to slow my comptuer down at all. I notice no change in PC performance. Granted I do use Vista 64 and have 6 Gig’s of memory and the I7 processor but this program I feel will run just fine on systems that are several years old. Users are not given a whole lot of features that they can not understand.

The main user interface is very simple. Even most novices and just look at the program and know off hand what to do. I really like the fact that it does not bother me at all. I surf the web isntall programs and the like with out the damn thing telling me it just updated or ran a scan. Out of site and Out of Mind. Does it really work? That is the true test of any free security product. I have gone to several malicious websites and have even tried to install a few viruses.

As soon as I tried to run the program the security client kicked in warning me about the virus and stopped it. So far I like it over AVG and Avast. You have the added pro of not being marketed to about purchasing the pro versions. As of yet Microsoft is not offering any such product. Just the free version. For those who want a client they can count on we still do recommend Spyware Doctor with Antivirus Here. However if you do not have the 39 bucks for the program then you need at least something. We do suggest downloading a copy of this free client from Microsoft and giving it a try. you can downlaod this program for free on the Microsoft website HERE
