I got this virus yesterday and have been trying ever since to get rid of it. I thought I had but I am still having problems with my internet that occurred right after I got this virus. Every time I google something or bing or yahoo or any other search engine and click the link the page just says hTtP/1.1 200 ok cOnTEnt-tYpE: teXT/htmL CAcHE-cOnTRoL: No-CACHe and that has never happened before. I have run Malware bytes and AVG Anti virus and both have come out clear. I have tried to follow the manual instructions but the files it tells me to find are not there. so I wasn’t sure if I still had it but I keep using my computer and I try to download the spyware doctor but the page always fails to open. I think this is due to Total PC Defender but I’m not sure. Sorry if I’m unclear but please HELP!!!!

A Little unclear but you can try the following.

Your Browser may be high jacked. If you are using Internet Explorer then re-set it. If you do not know how then use the RE-set Internet Explorer tool in our side bar. Also run the host reset tool just to be safe.

If you are using a different browser then reset it to default.

Worst case you can try a Winsoc fix tool but that should not be needed in this case. Let us know if you still have problems.

It craps out. I am using Vista. Any ideas on what I might be able to do?

Boot into safe mode with networking and see if you can’t run the scans or updates.

Reset hosts file if need be.

Manually find the Total PC Defender Process and delete it.

Scan the HDD on another working computer.

100′s of options out there for you. Just work your way done the list.

If you know it Total PC Defender then you should be able to locate the correct folder and determine what trace is in there to remove it.

Worst case is hiring out an expert like http://www.onlinecomputerrepair.org and paying the 89 or so bucks to have them remove it for you.
