My Disk Removal Instructions

Description: My Disk or MyDisk is a bogus application which represents itself as a hard disk defragmenter that in reality is designed to give false system alerts to the user once it gets installed in a system. My Disk is a direct clone of the following: Memory Fixer, HDD Fix, HDD Low, Scanner, Disk Repair, Defragmenter, HDD Tools, Smart HDD, HDD Rescue, HDD Plus, HDDDiagnostic, Hard Drive Diagnostic, HDD Scan, Win Defragmenter, Win Defrag, Win HDD, Check Disk, Ultra Defragger, Quick Defragmenter, HDD Defragmenter, System Defragmenter. The whole idea is to scare you off by displaying all these fake messages which will try to convince you that your computer is under serious threat and you need to get the commercial version of the application to get rid of those problems.

Just like many other rouge programs, My Disk gets access to your system by using Trojans and installs itself in the machine secretly. After having access to the system, My Disk will start sending error messages and will suggest you to run a system scan which will identify errors in the system. Then the software will recommend you to purchase the commercial version of the application to get rid of those errors. To make it worse, My Disk won’t allow you to launch a legitimate antivirus program for its own safety which is a very common feature of many rouge applications.

Once My Disk infects a system, it will start displaying the following error messages:

Critical Error
A critical error has occurred while indexing data stored on hard drive. System restart required.

System Restore
The system has been restored after a critical error. Data integrity and hard drive integrity verification required.

Windows detected a hard drive problem.
A hard drive error occurred while starting the application.

Low Disk Space
You are running very low disk space on Local Disk (C:).
Critical Error
A critical error has occurred while indexing data stored on hard drive. System restart required.

Can not find file: C:WINDOWSsystem32iexplore.exe
File may be deleted or corrupt.
It is strongly recommended to check the disk for errors.

Critical Error

Damaged hard drive clusters detected. Private data is at risk.
