This Tuesday Microsoft is opening it's doors to beta testers for their latest big project. Microsoft Security Essentials formerly known in beta as Morro will be replacing Live One Care. Live One Care cost around 50 bucks in the past but will be retired as of Nov 2009. The new free client calles Security Essentials is meant to be a free client to help people protect against, viruses, spyware, malware, root kits and trojans. It is yet to be seen how well this product will perform but through the grape vine we are hearing that this is a similar product to Live One Care and that it will provide good protection. Microsoft is not the first to offer a free client. Panda Cloud, AVG, Spybot Search and Destroy, even Symantic has a free client out there as well as PCtools. Many companies out there have these free clients in the hopes of upgrading them to more advanced programs with extra bells and whistles like, firewall, spam filters, data backup features, registry cleaners and the like. In just a few more days I am sure tens of thousands of people are going to be downloading this product and it will be nice to see what happens from there. Normally the free basic program is missing items or provide no up front protection for computers. Microsoft Security
