Google Redirect Virus
The Google Redirect virus is not really a virus term. What I mean by that is yes you are infected with a virus that is redirecting your searches and webpages but that is not the real threat to the computer. In most cases this is a sign of a much bigger issue.
The purpose of this guide is to walk you through the exact steps you need to take to remove whatever virus you are infected with and to also clear resolve your issue of the re-direct.
Cleaning out the Proxy aka DNS
This video shows you what you need to do. You can also just read the manual steps as well
For Internet Explorer and Chrome
Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools >Internet Options > Connections Tab > LAN settings > Un-check the Proxy Server Box
For Firefox
Open Firfox > Click the Drop Box and Select options > Under the Advanced tab select Network > Select the Settings Button > Check the dialog box that says No proxy.
You should now be able to surf the web again. However your searches may still be re-directing you. This is normally caused by the Hosts file being infected. We need to take action to repair the Hosts file.
Hosts File issue
A great tool to use that is free is this Hosts Fix tool from Microsoft you can download it at : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034
Try to run the tool and see if that resolved the issue.

Other Tips
After you run the above you should install a antivirus client to run a full scan on your computer. Personally I recommend Spyware Doctor with Antivirus. It is also able to resolve the Goole redirect virus issue you are having. You need to run a full scan to get to the root of the problem.
Additional Programs
In some cases users may be infected with a Rootkit threat that is very hard to remove. Spyware Doctor with Antivirus does have a Rootkit killing tool that works. However you can only use it in the paid version. Some other programs that are free can help resolved these kinds of issues.
