Antivirus Suite

Description: Antivirus Suite is a rogue security software application cloned from Antivirus Soft that tries to trick users into purchasing its license by using scare tactics. Antivirus Suite gets installed on a user’s system via Trojan viruses that get downloaded through bogus websites which claim to have security scanners and along with fake video codec packs. Once installed, Antivirus Suite disables all security software present on the system, and proceeds to load at startup. It then performs fake security scans on the system, returning false results that claim that the computer is severely infected with malicious software. It also displays a large number of fake pop-ups from the Windows taskbar, which warn the user of potential ‘threats’ to the computer. Antivirus Suite also installs a proxy server configuration on Internet Explorer which always redirects the user to the website of Antivirus Suite whenever they attempt to browse the internet. Meanwhile, Antivirus Suite constantly requests the user to purchase the ‘full’ version of the software, claiming that the currently installed ‘trial’ version of Antivirus Suite is insufficient to completely clean the system. However, it is important to note that Antivirus Suite is a fake application and therefore its so-called ‘full’ version is just as incapable of scanning or cleaning any system as the ‘trial’ version.

Most likely it is a proxy setting blocking you and or your hosts files.

Watch the proxy re-set video in this guide. It’s the last video on the page

Also you may need to re-set the Windows Hosts file if the above video does not help you out. We have a tool in the side bar called Re-set Hosts. Download and run the tool. Try the proxy settings first. Most likely that will work for you.

Antispyware Soft infected my computer. I read that it is a derivative of anti virus suite. I kept getting the pop ups and warnings and could not use windows explorer. I was able to get info using fire Firefox. I could not access My AVG or other security software to run scans. I shut down my computer to tackle this another evening. I rebooted tonight and when I did my AVG did come up with Trojan infections listed. I removed them and now the constant barrage of pop ups and warnings from Antispyware soft has disappeared. How do I check to be sure that the virus is completely removed? “E-mail removed for privacy”

The best advice I can offer and the simplest is to download another security client like Spyware Doctor or Malwarebytes and run a full scan. This should tell you if you have anything left over.

I was able to remove this remotely without going into safe mode. But to do this you need to know the name and password of a different Admin account on the PC. Luckly i already had LogMeIn installed before the computer was infected. I remotely connected. Found the C:\Windows\System32\TaskMgr.exe, right-clicked on it, clicked “Run As”, put the name of a different Admin account, and it ran! I then promptly killed all the junk processes and i was able to take complete control of the PC. Then ran MalwareBytes, etc

Ran Malware Bytes and it eradciated the AVSS files as well as the TDDS Rootkits and manually removed files/registry keys per article and changed proxy settings in both IE and FF and was able to connect to Internet until a short time later.

Unplugging and replugging in the ethernet cable, the connection is now just stuck on “acquiring network address”.

Yes, connection and cable are good.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

I just went through your tutorial and it worked very well. I disabled and deleted the virus, but when I rebooted the computer my internet no longer worked. I downloaded Malwarbytes on a different computer and used a flash drive to move it to and install it on the infected computer. It found 17 malicious files in the quick scan. I then did a full scan and it found 0, but I still can’t get online. Do you think it could be an aftereffect of the virus, or just a screwy setting on my PC? My connection to the router is great, but it will not show any websites.
