Home antivirus 2010 is just the latest in fake security clients.  This is bogus software so DO NOT PURCHASE IT.  The makers of this software program are most likely the same ones who made Home Antivirus 2009.   It is very similar in looks and does the same thing. Like most fake security clients this program will auto start when you boot your computer and will start a scan.  The results from the scan are all bogus and so are the warnings.  The goal of this fake program is to scare and trick the user into purchasing the program by making false claims of infection.  The fake security program is the real virus. In almost all cases those infected with Home Antivirus 2010 will also be infected with other viruses and trojans.  This is because another trojan virus is the one that installed this fake client.  Those are the real viruses you need to remove.

  • atowu.exe

Delete registry values:

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\don’t load “wscui.cpl”
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run “Home Antivirus 2010”

Unregister DLLs:

  • AVEngn.dll
  • htmlayout.dll
  • pthreadVC2.dll
  • msvcm80.dll
  • msvcp80.dll
  • msvcr80.dll

Delete files:

Please keep in mind that viruses mutate and change all the time. Do expect the above to change around a little.
