In many cases you will need to terminate or end a currently running process or aplication in order to delete a file.  This is very common for fake security clients and the like.

To end a program Hold down the ctrl + alt + del key at the same time.  This will bring up the Windows Task Manager.  From there you can end the proccess and then delete the needed file.

If the Task Manager has been disabled by the virus then chances are you can boot into safe mode under the system administrator and bring up the Task Manager there.  If this does not work then try downloading this Process killer tool » Download Here » 64 bit Version Here

We have also put a quick video together for those who need a little demo for self confidence.

2. There could be many different

There could be many different reasons for this. Here are a few suggestions that might help.

1. Ensure you are in "Safe Mode with Networking". Regular safe mode does not provide internet access because the networking features are disabled.

2. Re-set your hosts file and Internet Explorer. We have links to free tools in the side bar at the bottom.

3. Turn off the Windows Firewall

The above usually end in success. Give them a try. If it does not work for you then report back.

4. In many cases users can in

In many cases users can in fact use the Task Manager. They simply need to boot into safe mode or re-name the current running executable that is starting the fake client and then re-boot.

If you are having troubles with a particular virus we recommend you go directly to the guide written for that specific threat. In there we often offer great advice on terminating the needed executable and in many cases we also include a video showing you exactly what to do.

If nothing is working to terminate the file then under our SOFTWARE tab on top we feature another program you can use to terminate the running process. Be sure to select the download that has already been re-named to explorer.exe . 99% of the time the program will be able to work for you.
