In this traning video we show you how to go about editing the registry. This video is for educational purposes only. We strongly do not recommend people actually edit the registry. One little slip and you could cause your computer to become unstable and it may result in data loss.

Always make a backup of the registry before actually removing a threat.

Conclusion

You should always use a good security client to automatically remove and edit these entries in the Windows registry. Your other option is to hire out a pro who actually knows what they are doing. Companies like www.onlinecomputerrepair.org have real pro's who can do this for you as well. The cost varies but for the work it is worth it.

1. Regedit on vista

For some reason, I can't seem to open up regedit on my laptop. I put regedit in the start search place but nothing happens. It just says "no items match your search." My home PC does pull up the registry when I do this though and it is also windows vista. Is there something wrong with my laptop? My user account is an administrator so my access shouldn't be limited..How do I fix this??

2. Not sure what your problem

Not sure what your problem is. While many viruses disable the registry you normally would not get "no items match your search.

Perhaps you are not going to the correct location to run regedit? It sure sounds like you are doing it correctly. I would recommend attempting a system restore and go back a few weeks and see what happens.
